Social Ministry & Outreach
At St. John we believe part of our mission is to Serve the World with Christ's love, through our time, talents, and resources. There are many ministries that St. John supports locally, nationally, and internationally - here are a few of them listed below.
Winter 2025 Mission St. John is currently collecting can goods and donations for GRCC and FISH food banks as part of our "Souper Bowl" collection.
Disaster Relief St. John collects flood buckets for disaster relief at least once a year to go to the NALC Disaster Response Team. These have served locally after tornadoes as well as all over the country wherever natural disaster strikes. Thank you to those who have helped support these efforts! Summer 2024 Mission This Summer, we remembered the gift of Christ a little early, by participating in Operation Christmas Child Shoeboxes - we collected over 70 shoeboxes that will be sent across seas to communicate the gospel to children in need. Our Operation Christmas Child Shoeboxes arrived in Panama!
Life Pump Mission, Malawi, Africa. St. John has raised funds to support the building of four Life Pumps in Malawi, Africa through Design Outreach. We continue to pray for these communities often! For more information and updates on the impact of these Life Pumps go to https://lifepump.org
St. John Youth Shoe Ministry St. John has used funds from our Fair Parking to purchase shoes for children around Darke County in need of shoes. We pray for that these children will be blessed and encouraged by this gift. Hundreds of shoes have been given to students at schools throughout Darke County through the use of these funds.
Pay It Forward. St. John periodically sets aside funds to distributed to members who have signed up to "Pay it Forward" to individuals or families in our community in need of help. After the families help others, they report back to the congregation what was done with the funds. This is a way for members to entrust money to fellow members, and to trust that they discern how the Lord is leading them to "pay it forward".
Grace Resurrection Community Center (GRCC). St. John supports with volunteers and funding this important mission in Greenville. The GRCC provides food for the hungry, drink to the thirsty, clothing for the naked, shelter for the homeless, health care for the indigent sick and a Christian atmosphere to provide or further relationships with Christ by being of service to all people of Darke County in need. For more information on this important mission, go to https://grccenter.org
Thrivent Action Teams
St. John is involved in periodic Thrivent Action Teams to serve our community with collections for local ministries or sharing Bibles and resources with our community. If you have an idea for a Thrivent Action Team or a ministry you'd love to see St. John involved with please get in contact with Pastor Alliyah. Our latest Thrivent Action Team Project went to support a church / community Oktoberfest Worship Celebration and Dinner.

Prayer Shawl Ministry
Every Spring, we pray over the prayer shawls that ladies of St. John have worked on making this last year. These shawls will be given to those in need of extra prayer during the year.
